1987. Directed by Steve Oakes, Tom Rubnitz, Newton Thomas Sigel - Actress, musician and performance artist Ann Magnuson, plays numerous characters in this early Cinemax High-Art meets Low-Culture comedy special. A biker mama named Sweet Pea (Piglets Ol Lady) is on the way to a wet t-shirt contest to try winning tickets to the Vulcan Death Grip concert. Piglet and Sweet Pea are involved in a Harley and panel van collision, where she flies into a wormhole of surreal scenarios. Ann Magnuson, a popular artist in New York, entertains an audience with various characters like Stevie Nicks, or Shirley Maclaine as a ticket scalper. ANN MAGNUSON Mini-Bio : Was singer/songwriter for underground experimental rock band Bongwater in the 1980s. The band broke up in 1991 after just six releases. She continued her music on a solo basis in the mid-90s with an album titled The Luv Show. A Graduate of Denison University, class of 1978. Fronted the rock group Vulcan Death Grip which opened for the Jesus & Mary Chain on their first US tour. At the show at the Ritz in New York City a "fan" jumped on the stage and attempted to rip off her wig. Characters she has played before-the-camera include, David Bowies victim in the vampire film in The Hunger (1983), a cigarette girl in Susan Seidelmans independent film Desperately Seeking Susan (1985), Mel Gibsons greedy, money-driven ex-wife in Tequila Sunrise (1988), the victimized US Defense Secretarys office manager in Clear and Present Danger (1994) a madam in Tank Girl (1995) and a real-estate agent in Panic Room (2002). I first saw it on Cinemax, and quickly started calling friends to come watch with me (you know, get some port wine cheese spread and wheat thins, and have the guests bring the cold ones - instant party!) Seeing Ann as Meatloafs biker chick, Sweet Pea, is one of those perfect snapshots of all my bitch-ridin girlfriends rolled into one. Complete with fluffy-feathered alligator clamp roach clip/hair accessory! And thats just where the fun begins..."
