• Spine – fair to good condition – gilt titles to a red label, five raised bands, worn with loss to the top and base of the spines and lower joints.
• Joints – fair condition – rubbed and worn, split to the both joints almost entirely, holding on by the chords.
• Corners – good condition – bumped and worn.
• Boards – good condition – full dark calf boards with marks and wear.
• Page edges – good condition – top edges darkened, others tanned and wavy.

Internally

• Hinges – fair condition – split to both hinges, down the length and holding by the chords.
• Paste downs – good condition – both paste downs tanned, book plate for T Gaisford to the front paste down.
• End papers – good condition – tanned.
• Title – good condition – tanned with foxing.
• Pages – good condition – tanned, foxed with stains and marks throughout, waviness to the pages.
• Binding – fair to good condition – original binding with signs of wear.
