- Spine – fair to good condition – gilt titles to a red label, five raised bands, worn with loss to the top and base of the spines and lower joints.
- Joints – fair condition – rubbed and worn, split to the both joints almost entirely, holding on by the chords.
- Corners – good condition – bumped and worn.
- Boards – good condition – full dark calf boards with marks and wear.
- Page edges – good condition – top edges darkened, others tanned and wavy.

Internally
- Hinges – fair condition – split to both hinges, down the length and holding by the chords.
- Paste downs – good condition – both paste downs tanned, book plate for T Gaisford to the front paste down.
- End papers – good condition – tanned.
- Title – good condition – tanned with foxing.
- Pages – good condition – tanned, foxed with stains and marks throughout, waviness to the pages.
- Binding – fair to good condition – original binding with signs of wear.
